Proposition to compromise between politics/catering industry during confidential meeting.
Breda- The night facilities in Breda are allowed to open one hour longer (until 5 o'clock in the morning) until September. Also there is a proposition not to collect the fines of more than a quarter of a million euro's, that were imposed the last couple of months.
This is the result of a meeting that took place Tuesday evening between the Breda politicians and a delegation of catering industry merchants. One of the persons present, reports that the city council will probably decide to this compromise next Thursday. According to Mr Tjaard Gimbrère, councillor of the night facilities, it will not end in a lawsuit. He believes that all will end well.
In February of this year the closing times of the small catering businesses were changed. Bars and cafes got one hour extra and from that day on they may be opened until 3´o clock in the morning. This caused great financial difficulties for 5 night cafes, that should close at 4 o'clock in the morning. Because they held on to the closing time of 4 o´ clock in the morning they were fined. The night facilities initiated a lawsuit that was held 2 weeks ago. It was agreed that the parties would try one more time to reconcile and it seems that it has worked. The night cafes will also get one hour extra during the trial period. On the initiative of Horeca Holland the catering industry merchants will be inquired about their ideas about the changed closing times.
